Peinkofer 3rd at Feds - Alec Peinkofer led the Section III contingent at the New Yorks State Federation cross country championship with a 3rd place finish. Peinkofer covered the hilly 5 kilometer course at Bowden Park near Poughkeepsie with a time of 16:08.6. Arlington's Sebastion Hanson was the individual champion in 16:00.7, while Thomas Slattery of Chamanade was the runner-up with a time of 16:06.9. In the team competition the Bees finished in 14th place behind team champion Saratoga. Liverpool finished in 6th place in the team competition. The Federation championship is the true state championship, bringing together schools and runners from all classes (different size schools). Invitations to compete in the Federation championship are limited to the top competitors from across the state.
Schoeberlein memorial - Evan and Eric Schoeberlein were part of the Baldwinsville cross country family during the late 1990's and early 2000's. Their dad, Warren, served as a driver/chaperone on the annual trip to the Manhattan Invitational. After graduating from Baker, Evan was taken from us by cancer. Evan's brother, Marc, is currently beginning a project which will tell Evan's story in a movie which he hopes will serve as a source of comfort for those directly, and indirectly, affected by this terrible disease. 2012 State Meet Results - Alec Peinkofer was the top Baldwinsville finisher at the NYSPHSAA Class A State Championship last Saturday (11/10). Peinkofer finished in 7th place in the Class A race, while teammate Josh Perez finished in 61st place. In the girls' Class A race, Annie Peterson finished in 45th place, while Rachel Miller placed 61st. All four Baldwinsville runners had earned the right to compete in the state meet by qualifying in the Section III championship the previous weekend.
In the boys' race, Saratoga Springs edged Fayetteville-Manlius for the team championship by a point, 57 to 58, despite the individual win by F-M's Nick Ryan. Section III finished first in the Sectional race. In the girls' race Fayetteville-Manlius captured the team championship with ease, finishing with 32 points to second place Saratoga Springs with 56 points. F-M's Alana Pearl was the individual winner in that race.
61st B'ville Invitation continues tradition - despite several downpours of heavy rain, this year's edition of the invitational went off without a hitch. Baldwinsville's varsity boys' team brought home the champions trophy in the large school division with B'ville's Alec Peinkofer the individual winner with a time of 15 minutes 34 seconds. In the varsity girls' large school race the Bees ended up in second place behind Liverpool. In all 61 schools and over 2000 runners competed in a schedule of 14 races. Boys and Girls both winners at VVS - The Boys' varsity brought home the first place trophy in the Varsity 2 race from the Vernon-Verona-Sherill Invitational on Saturday (9/15). Ryan Manahan of Marcellus was the the individual winner (15:53) with Baldwinsville's Alec Peinkofer (2nd, 16:31), Josh Perez (3rd, 16:57), Andy Fleming (4th, 17:06), and Jack Martin (5th, 17:14) rounding out the top 5 individuals in a field of 218 runners. Casey McAllister (22nd, 18:12) completed the Bees' scoring effort, giving the boys a total of 36 points, far ahead of 2nd place West Genesee with 56 points. Photo by Jim Fleming.
The Lady Bees also captured the first place trophy in their race. Marcellus runner Rachel Garn (19:39) was the individual winner while Annie Peterson (3rd, 20:27), Rachel Miller (5th, 20:56), Marissa Lathrop (8th, 21:02), Emily Thompson (9th, 21:03), and Mia Bolton (10th, 21:24) were all among the top ten individuals in a field of 165 runners. The Lady Bees easily outscored the 2nd place West Genesee Wildcats 35-77.
Bees sweep Jordan-Elbridge Invitational - The varsity boys and girls teams brought home the first place trophies in their races at the J-E Invitational on Saturday, 9/8.
In the boys varsity race Andy Fleming led the Bees with a first place finish in a time of 14 minutes and 16 seconds, nipping Hannibal's Ryan Perry for the win.. Fleming was followed by teammates Jack Martin (3rd), Casey McAllister (8th), Harrison Warner (15th), Antonio Martinez (16th), Stephen Petrelli (17th), Arden Kellner (24th), and Chris Twichell (25th). The field consisted of 9 teams and 70 runners.
In the girls varsity race Hanna Olds led the Lady Bees with a 3rd place finish in a time of 17 minutes 44 seconds. J-E's Abby Gugel was the individual winner, with Homer's Jade Auchmoody finishing in 2nd. Baldwinsivlle's Kimmy Cushman (4th), Marrisa Lathrop (5th), Emily Thompson (6th), Julia Thompson (7th), and Rachael Miller (10th) all finished among the first ten runners in a 46 runner field.
The boys and girls JV teams also placed first in their respective races. Nate Wick led the JV boys team, capturing the individual win. Kelley Hull led the girls JV team, finishing 1st in her race.
Rotary to Sponsor Autumn 5K - The Baldwinsville Rotary Autumn 5K Run/Walk will take place at 10am on Sunday October 14th at Baker High School in Baldwinsville. To participate, pre-registration will be $20 for adults before September 30th, or $25 the day of the race. There will be three legs of the course to make for interesting terrain and a fun experience for both walkers and runners. Souvenir shirts and after-race snacks will be available while supplies last.
“This is a great opportunity for family, friends and neighbors to enjoy each other’s company while being active,” says race committee chairperson Dom Losurdo. He is also quick to point out that, “…all the funds raised from registration fees support the Baldwinsville Rotary Club, so it is for a good cause too!” Walkers and runners interested in signing up can download a registration form and mail it in.
Coaches Announce 61st Invitational Plans - Boys' varsity coach Jason Glashauser and girls' varsity coach Mike Scuderi have announced plans to utilize Leone Timings in the 61sth Annual Baldwinsville Cross Country Invitational which will be held on September 22, 2012 at Durgee Jr. High School. Bees win trophies at Manhattan Invitational - The Baldwinsville girls varsity team came home with the 2nd place trophy after finishing behind local rivals and team champion Liverpool in the Girls Varsity C Race, while the boys varsity team brought home the 3rd place trophy for their finish in the Boys Varsity B Race. Alec Peinkofer led the B'ville boys with a 3rd place finish in a time of 13:09, while Rachel Miller led the Lady Bees with a 5th place finish with a time of 16:14. Peinkofer, Andy Fleming, and Josh Perez all registered times that place them among the top fifty Baldwinsville runners to compete at NYC's VanCortland Park (see listing on left).
